Budget 2010

Mr.Finance Minister has successfully presented his 5th successive budget yest in the Parliament. First i would like to appreciate him for presenting a bit balanced budget. Its actually quite difficult to prepare budget for a country like India. Whatever lets discuss the ups and downs. Govt's spending on health care, defense, agriculture, renewable energy has gone up which is actually appreciable. In the same time Mr.Finance Minister has increased the tax on crude oil increasing petrol and diesel prices. In fact this is going to create more and more problems. The country is already suffering with high inflation. Increase in fuel prices will lead to increase in price of commodities. What i feel is the Government should hav tied to contain inflation and then increased the fuel prices may be some months later. But one should also remember the fact tht the oil companies are already suffering under huge loss and they are no more ready to take this burden. This is the case with cement pricing also. Next, Dr.FM has reduced tax on solar panels, increased spending on agriculture, and has allocated more for renewable sources. This is really a wonderful move. Whenever increasing crude prices we should get reminded of the fact tht India is deprived of fossil fuels and we should try to conserve fuel as much as possible. Mr.FM has also reduced tax on CFL . Mr.FM has also reduced the tax burden greatly. Then FM has increased tax on cigars and large cars, MUVs and SUVs. Mr.FM also has increased his allocation for defense. This is also a welcome move given the fact tht our armed forces need to ever ready to face the growing threats. The Budget also aims to control fiscal deficit. And as expected budget has benefited farmers i would say. Now drought hit farmers can delay their payments by six months. May be FM could have waived off their loans but the fact is what ever he does it should reach the beneficiaries and not the middle man. In the fertilizer front, Mr.FM has said tht the Nutrient Based Subsidy policy for fertilizers is to become effective from April 2010. Mr.FM has said he would spend to spread Green Revolution in the eastern parts of India. Then it is to be noted tht Mr.FM has concentrated on Banking and infrastructure development. RBI is proposing to issue new licenses to private banks. FM has allocated almost 46% of total plan allocations for infrastructure development. Mr.FM wants to lay at least 20km of highways a day; but i feel this requires complete re-planning of existing policies. He has also promised to improve rural infrastructure. Mr.FM has also promised that first set of UID nos will be rolled out next year as per the schedule. He has also said that INR will have a unique symbol. It is actually quite difficult to prepare a budget for a complex economy like that of India's. But according to me Mr.FM has done a relatively good job. The markets also have given a thumps up; sensex gained 300 points. Whatever we'll have to wait and watch if the Government is able to achieve their target.

From Corporates to Governance!!!!

We all know India is developing at an appreciable rate. But wat brought these changes? How did India manage to grow in-spite of recession all tht stuff??? The answer to all ur questions is simple- by including corporates in decision making. Yes! when India's reserves were just enough for a week it was Dr.Manmohan Singh who opened India's markets paving way for FDIs. Thus India's economy was saved. But who was Dr.Singh earlier. A Corporate. Its this corporate world which is changing the face of India. A man called Dhirubhai Ambani taught wat share market means. But at present many corporates hav left their business and hav taken up ambitious government posts- Nandan Nilekani of Infosys heads UID project. Arun Maira has been appointed as a member of the Planning Commission. Shailesh Gandhi has been appointed the Central Information Commissioner. Capt. Raghu Raman heads the National Intelligence Grid. All these ppl were busy with their own business before teaming up with Dr.Singh. But the culture of bringing in corporates was introduced by Rajiv Gandhi who supported Dr.Singh. Later Dr.Singh was made the Finance Minister in the Narasimah Rao regime during which liberalization brought a drastic change in India. Arun Maira was on a vacation when Dr.Singh called him and offered him a post in Planning Commission. It was Union Minister Prithviraj Chauhan who called Shailesh and requested him to be the Central Information Commissioner. Dr.Singh himself called Nandan Nilekani and appointed him the head of the UID project. Its a matter of proud tht these ppl have sacrificed their own interests for their country. One would say such a sacrifice is obvious but given the fact tht millions and millions of intelligent minds leave this country these ppl hav opted to stay back and contribute something to the country. I take this as an opportunity to stress tht even if we go abroad we should come backa nd contribute constructively for our mother land.

United States of INDIA!!!

We all know the recent developments in Andhra Pradesh. I decided to write this just to spread the reality- to create awareness among ppl- at least among my friends who visit my blog regularly. I recently happened to read in The Hindu tht heads of IT Cos in Hyderabad met TRS's leader and pleaded him to allow them to work peacefully. But is this really necessary?? Think what hes doing to win Telengana. Hes burning buses; not allowing railways to function smoothly. One should remember tht TRS has nothing to AP; they didnt help in buying one single bus to burn them. All buses and trains were bought with people's money, with the taxes they pay. If one is really interested in the welfare of the common man he should look into their problems as his own instead of damaging public property like what is happening in AP. What is point in shutting down shops and business?? I would like to bring to the reader's notice tht the CII meeting which was to be held in Hyderabad was shifted to Chennai because of this and the ultimate loser was AP because investors said NO to unstable AP. The next blunder which added oil to fire was center's decision to grant Telengana. But later the UPA govt went back on their decision. If they had granted separate Telengana it would hav set a bad example. Many parts of India would hav asked for separate states- Gorkhaland from WB, Vidarbha from MH, Coorg from KA(lol), then dividing UP into three parts and Mr.Ramadoss's call for dividing TN into two. One should rememder tht dividing states is not an solution at all. Its just gonna create hell a lot of problems. India is predominantly an agricultural country; dividing India will increase water disputes among states. Then the problem and cost involving in setting up a separate assembly, pays and perks to their governers etc etc the list goes on. But its a fact tht these regions ( Telengana, Vidarbha etc) are all lagging in terms on development. Its a known fact tht parties playing cheap politics hav lost heavily in elections. PMK of TN couldnt even win a seat in Parliamentary elections. TRS also lost heavily in AP. These parties should know tht separate state is not in the minds of ppl. Instead they should start working for the upliftment of these regions. They can help in spreading Govt's welfare schemes so tht every individual is befitted. Vidharbha has the highest no of farmer suicides in the country. The parties there can try and educate farmers there and give them moral support so tht can continue farming instead of killing themselves. This is the case with Telengana also. Its a fact tht most parts of Telengana except Hyderabad are lagging way behind. One should remember tht even after separating Jharkhand from Bihar, it hasnt grown much. Neither has Uttarakhand showed any growth. Special economic packages should be of help to these regions and these parties should make sure tht the benefits of such packages reach every comman man and not to some ppl's bank accounts. So political parties fighting for their own selfish reasons should realize tht ppl are not going to tolerate their stupid actions anymore and start working really for the ppl's welfare.
